Within the activities to celebrate the Philanthropy Day of the state of Sinaloa, organized by the Private Assistance Board chaired by Mr. Jorge Julián Chávez Murillo and the Banco de Breathos of Mazatlán, a Panel of Business Foundations was held where The participants spoke on the theme of the meeting: “Innovation for Social Action.” Miriam Alatorre Calderón from Fundación Telefónica, Jorge Vázquez from Fundación MVS and Carlos Madrid Varela, director of the Banorte and Gruma foundations, participated in this meeting. Below we will recover the main contributions of this panel for other business foundations, but now let us chronicle such an important regional event. Philanthropy Day in Sinaloa was created with the spirit of encouraging and promoting the culture of donation and citizen participation in the state. Purpose that has been achieved with several editions that offer private assistance institutions a series of activities to strengthen their organizations. Fortunately, in the states of the republic that have their own board, they are also organizing their own events. The 2011 edition was held in the city of Mazatlán on November 25 and 26. I
It is worth noting that year after year the Phone Number List venue is changed and an institution agrees to be part of the Organizing Committee, in this case it was the Mazatlán Food Bank headed by CP Rafael Domínguez Kelly and a whole team of enthusiastic volunteers. The Philanthropy Day work began with the delivery of three training workshops: Volunteering, taught by Cristina González Parás; Alliances and Networks, by Alejandro Martínez Reyes and Communication for the mobilization of resources by Emilio Guerra Díaz. A day with young people facilitated by the Nemi Foundation addressed the topics “Zero Tolerance to Alcohol Consumption” and “Your voice makes a difference in addiction prevention.” Subsequently, the presentation of the Caracol de Plata University Award was made. However, one of the most anticipated events of this celebration took place after the speech of the Secretary of Social Development, Heriberto Félix Guerra, who formally inaugurated the work of this event; the delivery of the Philanthropic Merit Award that is awarded to 2 institutions whose trajectory, contribution, impact, mobilization of resources, involvement of various actors in solving problems, for incorporating and working with volunteers and patrons and who help philanthropy to be reproduce in the state form some of the criteria by which the institutions Impulsora de la Cultura y las Artes IAP (based in Los Mochis) and Cáritas de Mazatlán IAP were recognized. Don Heriberto Félix Guerra and Mrs.

Alma Sofía Carlón de López, State President of the DIF Sinaloa, presented the awards to Mrs. Pilar Artola de Salido (who, in addition to her professional career that gave life to the Center for Innovation and Education, is an excellent photographer ) and Fr. Rafael Martínez Gallardo (whom the revelation that his institution had won the Prize shared his enthusiasm and can be seen on his face in the photograph we published). On November 26, the celebration of Philanthropy Day began with a breakfast with a conference given by Don Alberto Núñez Esteva, who spoke about the need to promote philanthropy in the state from a business vision. Afterwards, the Panel of Business Foundations on Innovation for Social Action was held. The representatives of each participating foundation (MVS, Telefónica, Gruma and Banorte) briefly explained both the mission of their institution and the work of their activities carried out through their programs. Thus Miriam Alatorre, head of the Pro Children Program, stated that they seek to eliminate child labor. Jorge Vázquez from MVS pointed out that his foundation aligned its social investment interest with the company's work, which is why they support hearing disabilities.
